Writing Exercises

I've decided to steal an idea from my good friends, and start doing a "writing exercise" type thing every day. The idea is to put several topics or titles in a jar, pick one each day, and write a paragraph or two about it. It can sound like an excerpt from a story, but there doesn't need to be any context.
Anyway, because the main people that comment on this blog (K&J) are fairly creative (At least K seems that way...), I'm asking for some ideas. They can be as... well, whatever you want. Just not TOO specific, since there has to be some room for creativity!
Thanks for your help. I'll probably post some of the finished products at a later date!

Peru Update

We have offically raised our core support for Peru! The check came in two days ago that put us $4 over the top!

There are around 85 children at the orphanage we're going to, ranging in age from 15 days to 17 years.
We're also going to be visiting a school with around 180 kids, Preschool through 12th grade.
I'm so excited to minister to all the kids, to tell them stories and give them gifts.
Doug and Marilyn said that we have a few hours at the orphanage to just love the kids. That part makes me so happy.

My mother is going to single-handedly bring back 40 illegal aliens in her suitcase. They will all be under the age of 15.

Kelly, what's the code for that countdown thing? Can you send it to me to put on my profile?

A Poem.

This makes me think of camp, and footbridge nights =] Forgive me for continually posting things that aren't really about ME. Although, I guess if you know me, you'll figure out that everything I've posted recently IS about me, in a weird way. Anyway, I found this poem in my Lit book for next year, and I LOVE IT!!!

Stars- Sara Teasdale
Alone in the night
On a dark hill
With pines all around me,
Spicy and still,

And a heaven full of stars
Over my head;
White and topaz
And misty red;

Myriads with beating
Hearts of fire
That aeons
Cannot vex or tire;

Up the dome of heaven
Like a great hill,
I watch them marching
Stately and still,
And I know that I,
Am honored to be
Witness
Of so much majesty.

My New Favorite Song

We Are Broken
Paramore
I am outside
And I've been waiting for the sun
And with my wide eyes
I've seen worlds that don't belong
My mouth is dry with words I cannot verbalize
Tell me why we live like this

Keep me safe inside
Your arms like towers
Tower over me

Yeah
Cause we are broken
What must we do to restore
Our innocence
And oh the promise we adored
Give us life again cause we just wanna be home

Lock the doors
Cause I'd like to capture this voice
That came to me tonight
So everyone will have a choice
And under red lights
I'll show myself it wasn't forged
We're at war
We live like this

Keep me safe inside
Your arms like towers
Tower over me

Cause we are broken
What must we do to restore
Our innocence
And oh the promise we adored
Give us life again cause we just wanna be home

Tower over me
Tower over me

And I'll take the truth at any cost

Cause we are broken
What must we do to restore
Our innocence
And oh the promise we adored
Give us life again cause we just wanna be home

Some Random Ramblings

I haven't posted in a long time, and currently, I'm too lazy to recap all of the things I haven't posted about!!
But in the past few weeks, I've had some incredible times, and also had some not-so-incredible things happen to me. But, through it all, God is SO incredibly amazing. He has blessed me with awesome family and friends.
Peru draws nearer every day. We currently are only around $500 short on funds, praise the Lord. I am so excited for this trip, and I know that I am going to have my eyes opened while I'm there. I've started talking to the two other teens that are going with us, and they both seem really nice.
Now, I will leave you with a verse :)

Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produced perseverance; perseverance, character, and character hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out His love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us. Romans 3:3-5, emphasis mine.
